In 2016, Longhouse was designing a large custom chandelier for a project in the Napa Valley.  The contemporary yet relaxed aesthetic of Windy Chien's classic Helix Lights seemed like a perfect match to the Longhouse sensibility. So the team approached Windy about a collaboration, which not only resulted in a successful project, but developed into a friendship and years of creativity that inevitably led to launching a new line of co-branded light fixtures available to the public for the first time.  The elevated additions of hardwired canopy, turned wood, studio-blown glass, and the subtle yet complex knots are a perfect architectural complement to the LH11 pendant, and a nod to the soft, vivid landscapes of the California coast. The collaboration between Longhouse and Windy embodies their values of community, craftsmanship, fine art, and captures the spirit of innovative design. There are many exciting new designs on the horizon.

Windy Chien makes art that activates space, elevates the vernacular, and investigates the line. She is best known for her 2016 work, The Year Of Knots, in which she learned a new knot every day for a year. Her work ranges in size from a knot that can fit in the palm of a child's hand to majestic, room-sized installations that are sought after by private collectors.
